Forty sons of Gardens Prime Star, tied as the #1 sire in the 2010 Sire Summary for Marbling EPD at +1.06 that is AMF and NHF. His forty sons selling average +.88 on Marbling EPD. We currently have 70 plus daughters in production that are doing a superb job.

Twenty Sons of Gardens Wave, one of the most unique bulls of the breed with a Marbling EPD of +1.06, which ties him with Prime Star as the # 1 bull of the breed that is AMF and NHF. Wave also carries a Ribeye EPD of +.58, a $EN value of +31.73, and $Beef value of +61.69. Wave’s $Grid is 41.77 which ranks him in the top 1% of the breed.

Twenty sons of Gardens Tsunami, who is also tied with Prime Star and Wave as the #1 bull in the breed for Marbling EPD at +1.06 in the 2010 Sire Summary who are AMF and NHF. Tsunami also carries a REA EPD of +.51 and a $Beef of 63.33

Pete Mitts, owner and manager of the Broken M Ranch did a little extra work analyzing the carcass data from his 2008 calf crop. He broke down the results from the calves out of his youngest cows to the calves out of his oldest cows. Pete has been buying some of our top marbling bulls for the past 11 years.

Gardens Wave is the #2 bull with a Marbling EPD of +1.07, that is AMF and NHF.  He ranks in the top 10% for calving ease, the top 1% for $G and $QG, the top 2% for REA with outstanding $Values  putting him in the top 1% for $Wean, top 1% for $Grid, top 1% for $Quality Grade, and in the top 2% for $Beef.  Gardens Wave also carries a $EN value of +27.92 which puts him in the top 2% of the breed.  Check out the sons of Wave we are using under herd sires.  Semen is available through ABS Global.

The 100 bulls sold for an average of $3673.50. The fall bulls averaged 3746 and the spring bulls averaged 3601.

 

We had 55 bulls staying in the state of Kansas, 29 bulls went to Missouri, 8 to Nebraska, 3 to Texas, and 1 each to Alabama, Illinois, Tennessee, New Mexico and Alberta, Canada.

 

Lot 1, the $18,000 top selling bull went to Lindmark Land & Cattle Co. in Purcell, OK.

Lot 69 was purchased by Oak Manor Plantation in Grand Junction, TN and Sherril Angus in Bolivar, TN for $15,000.

 Benchmark Cattle Co. in Alberta, Canada purchased Lot 65 for $10,000.

Lungren Angus Ranch in Gove, KS purchased lot 55 for $8,500.

R. B. White in Albuquerque, NM purchased lot 6 for $6,500.

New Carcass Data in from Broken M Ranch in Savannah, MO.

 

Pete Mitts, owner and manager of the Broken M Ranch, did a little extra work this year analyzing the carcass data from his 2007 calf crop.  He broke down the results from the calves out of his youngest cows to the calves out of his oldest cows.  A great way to monitor his progress on his cow herd.
